Flatbed & Platform Body Installation

If your work demands more cargo space, better load access, or the ability to haul oversized equipment, a flatbed or platform body install can transform a standard truck into a purpose-built work vehicle. Mid-State Truck Equipment installs flatbed and platform bodies for contractors, construction companies, and utility fleets in Fishers and Greenfield, Indiana.

We work with a range of body styles and brands to match the right platform to your truck, your payload, and how the truck gets used.

What We Install

Steel Flatbed Bodies

Steel flatbeds are the workhorse option for construction, utility, and municipal work. They handle heavy loads, stand up to daily abuse, and are compatible with a wide range of accessories including headache racks, toolboxes, stake sides, and tie-down systems. We install steel flatbeds in a range of lengths and configurations to fit Class 3 through Class 6 trucks.

Aluminum Flatbed Bodies

Aluminum bodies offer a significant weight savings over steel, which matters when payload capacity is tight or fuel economy is a factor. We source and install aluminum flatbeds suited for contractors and service fleets that need a lighter platform without sacrificing structural performance.

Platform Bodies

Platform bodies feature a lower profile and built-in stake pockets or rails. They’re common in landscaping, construction, and municipal applications where easy load and unload access from the sides matters as much as the rear.

Combination Service/Flatbed Bodies

Some applications call for a hybrid setup — compartmentalized storage on one section, open flat space on another. We can help spec a body that gives you organized storage alongside open cargo capacity, depending on the truck and available configurations from our brands.

Add-Ons We Install with Flatbeds

A flatbed body is often the foundation for a broader truck build. Common add-ons
we install alongside flatbed bodies include:

  • Headache racks and cab guards
  • Underbody toolboxes and side-mount storage
  • Stake sides and removable panels
  • Tie-down tracks and anchor systems
  • Work lighting and strobe packages
  • Liftgates (rear or side mount)
  • Hoists and dump conversions

If you’re planning a full build, let us know upfront so we can sequence the
installation correctly and avoid rework.

How Flatbed Installation Works

Truck and Use Case Review

We start by looking at your truck’s GVWR, cab configuration, and frame specs, alongside how you’ll use the vehicle. Body weight, length, and mounting method all need to be matched to the truck to ensure a safe, legal installation.

Body and Accessory Selection

We’ll walk you through body options that fit your truck and budget, along with any accessories that make sense for your workflow. If you’re planning add-ons like a liftgate or hoist, we factor those in at this stage.

Installation

Our shop handles removal of the existing bed if needed, body mounting, and any wiring or hydraulic work required for the build. We install to manufacturer specs and make sure everything is properly secured before the truck leaves.

Walkthrough

Before you pick up, we walk you through the completed install so you know how everything works and what to watch for during break-in.

MTE aluminum flatbed truck bodies offer lightweight durability for contractors and service fleets. Available in a range of sizes to fit Class 3 through Class 6 trucks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you remove my existing truck bed?

Yes. Bed removal is part of the installation process in most cases. Let us know what’s currently on the truck when you call so we can plan accordingly.

What size trucks do you work on?

We work on Class 2 through Class 6 trucks, including half-ton pickups up through medium-duty commercial vehicles. Bring the truck’s GVWR and cab configuration and we can confirm what body sizes are compatible.

Can I add a dump system to a flatbed?

In many cases, yes. Hoist kits and dump conversions can be installed on compatible flatbed bodies. If that’s part of your plan, let us know upfront and we’ll make sure we select a body that’s compatible with a hoist install.

How long does installation take?

Turnaround depends on the body style, add-ons, and current shop schedule. Call either location with your truck information and a description of the build and we’ll give you a realistic timeline.
